Residential inspections are conducted, upon request, for individuals who are pursuing a state license for operating any of, but not limited to, the following facilities: Foster Homes, Assisted Living Homes, Alternative Family Living Homes (AFL), Adult Day Cares, or Child Day Cares. Inspections are conducted initially to ensure that all federal, state, and local requirements for Fire and Life Safety are met; then on an annual basis thereafter.
A $75* inspection fee is required prior to each of the residential inspections listed above. Payment must be received before an appointment can be made, and on most occasions, inspections can be scheduled within two business days of receipt of payment. If paying by cash or check (made payable to New Bern Fire-Rescue), payment can be made at Fire Headquarters, located at 1401 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, during normal business hours. If paying by credit card, you may come to the station or we can take the card over the phone.
Please be certain to have your inspection form with you when inspectors arrive for your appointment. We do not supply inspection forms as the licensing agencies determine what form their clients use - not all use the same form.
